Dear Billy,
It was great running into you the other night outside Wigglesworth. It's always nice to
see a familiar face. It's hard to believe how things come full circle--you've followed me
from Mather in my undergrad career to Weidner in my current Proctor role. I have to say,
though, that I am so sorry to hear that Harvard is thinking of replacing your staff of
officers with another group of people. I hope that you can pass along my support for
your team.
Having been an undergrad at Harvard, I want you to know how much it meant to have
you welcome me and my class to Mather House. As Harvard tries to promote building
unity across the university, you were a driving force in helping all of the Mather
community come together.
Also, it's kind of strange to me that, in this time where many people don't feel safe in
their surroundings, the university is thinking of changing the face of security on campus.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to let people know how nice it is to have
you and your team at Harvard. You've been such a consistently active supporter of
students on campus-Harvard wouldn't be the same without you.
In any case, best of luck with the upcoming issues you'll face. Please stress to whoever
is making the ultimate decision that the security on campus is very much a part of student
life in the Houses and in the Yard. Your team has gone to great lengths to make us all
feel safe and unified, I hope we'll all be able to have you and your team continue to do so
next year.
Good luck!
Take care,
Mark P.
