To whom it may concern,
It is my great pleasure and privilege to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of
William Duarte. I have been a Mather resident for the past three years and Billy, as other
students and I dearly call him, has played a central role in my Mather experience.
During my stay at Mather House, I have interacted with Billy in both a professional and
personal level. As the assistant to the Superintendent, I have seen Billy excel at his job.
He is always available. Billy is responsible, dependable, and dedicated. I have never
received any complaints regarding Billy. In addition to handling lockouts, shutting down
parties, and ensuring safety, Billy concerns himself with the functionality of the building
- dealing with broken windows and plumbing problems. Billy on numerous occasions
has gone above and beyond the call of duty.
Most importantly, though, Billy enjoys his job and takes it personally. Billy impressively
knows the name and even the specific interests of each of the 400 members of the Mather
community. In addition to performing his duties, Billy offers the students a helping hand
(helping me carry a box during move-out) and an open ear (listening to me vent about my
roommate or stress over thesis). Billy's big smile and warm laughter welcomes us into
the building daily and reassures us that we feel safe and comfortable because we are in
good hands.
If Billy were to leave, the Mather community will lose not only an excellent security
guard, but also a family member. Moreover, as I graduated this past June, one of the
people I will miss most from Mather is Billy. He is an indispensable part of the Mather
community and I hope you will take my support (which is representative of the students
of Mather at large) seriously when making your decision. If you have any questions,
please feel free to contact me. It would be my pleasure to talk further with you about the wonderful contributions of William Duarte.
Sincerely,
Damaris H.
